Founding Principal

David is a Professional Engineer licensed in the State of Texas, with over 25 years of comprehensive engineering experience spanning the federal, state, municipal, and land development sectors.

As a design engineer, his work includes single- and multi-family residential, commercial and big-box retail, industrial warehouse, mixed-use, parks and trails, military facilities, airport runways, public infrastructure, and electrical substations.

As a senior leader within the City of Dallas Engineering Division, David worked alongside the development community and public departments on hundreds of projects, and was instrumental in updating and improving the City's standards, policies, software, and review processes.

As Director of Land Development in the private residential housing sector, he led a team of project managers, coordinators, and superintendents — working with consultants and contractors across 24+ projects and more than 3,000 lots valued at over $1.2 billion.

His passion continues to be bridging the gaps between public organizations, developers, engineers, and contractors — bringing every party to the same table to move projects forward.

Kona brings over a decade of field experience as our resident environmental site assessment specialist. No detail — and no squirrel, frog, pigeon, or gecko — escapes his notice.

His daily perimeter surveys leave no square inch unsniffed, uninspected, or unapproved — each one signed off with a wag of the tail. His geotechnical instincts are legendary, making him the firm's go-to expert on excavation and foundation checks

(he digs deep).

Kona supervises all design work from his executive office bed, a position he takes very seriously and very horizontally. Off duty, he conducts his own plan reviews, stamping each set with an official pawprint of approval and keeping office morale at record highs.
